Overview Taiga:
A team of prospector scientists are exploring far reaches of Russian taiga in search of mineral deposits. But what made them think they could decide the fate of these lands? You play as Sergey, you have just joined the prospector team, and they are already carrying out local geology inspection. Next morning you were supposed to join in on the action, but.. The taiga has other plans for you and these men. Will you live through the ordeal? Stay close to sources of light, and avoid staying the dark for too long. In this wilderness even the hardest people start to give away. And that is when the taiga takes you. The core mechanic of the Swapper is quite simple: you can create clones of yourself at set locations, move all your clones simultaneously and even swap control into a clone. This deceptively simple idea leads to a variety of interesting puzzles to solve. The artistic qualities of this game are wonderful. The look of the game is pleasing to the eyes. The use of ambient background sound etc really helps set a particular mood. There is a mystery to solve and piece by piece small segments of the mystery is revealed. If you want a relaxing, linear experience solving puzzles and contemplating fundamental questions of our existence, this game is for you. This game is perfect for people who like putting together pieces of information to discover lore, because the story is notably and purposefully twisty and ambiguous. I’d recommend playing through it twice; the first to just experience the story, and then a second time to appreciate and realize more about the story. Don’t worry; the game is short. Altogether, I spent about 6 hours for two playthroughs. Yes, the game is a touch stereotypical, but considering that it was originally released in 2013, it has held up extraordinarily well against the last decade’s rapidly growing inclination towards deep philosophical questions.
